PSI Farming
Lane Parker worked as a pest control advisor in Stanislaus and Merced Counties for eleven years after receiving his Masters degree in Plant Protection and Pest Management from U.C. Davis. In 1988, he joined a large farm management firm where he was responsible for supervision of farm managers on 6000 acres of diverse crops including almonds, citrus, grapes and olives. In 1992, he joined forces with Mr. Sylvester to form PSI Farming. Together they are managing almonds, walnuts and grapes in Stanislaus County. Mr. Parker serves as a member of the Production Research Committee of the Almond Board. He served for 10 years as the secretary / treasurer of the East Stanislaus Resource Conservation District, and he is a graduate of the California Agricultural Leadership Program. For 14 years he has been a leader in Battalion, a Christian Service Brigade leadership training program for Middle and High School age boys.
Tim Sylvester is a native of Stanislaus County where he was raised on a dairy and almond farm. After two years at Modesto Junior College, he returned to active farming. In 1989 he became a farm manager at the farm management company where Mr. Parker was employed. There he was responsible for management of a 600-acre vineyard as well as 320 acres of almonds and 60 acres of citrus. At PSI Farming, Mr. Sylvester’s strong bilingual abilities are useful in his management of labor and he is responsible for equipment management. He owns a grape and almond farm near Turlock and is an active 4H leader in shooting sports.
